“In general, double glazing firms come and go like chaff in the wind but this company has tucked 25 years of reliable service under its belt and has a raft of satisfied customers. Indeed the sons and daughters of many of their earlier clients are now turning to them for their own homes. Geographically, Maghull Double Glazing covers Southport, Widnes, South Liverpool and parts of Cheshire, including Runcorn. It is acknowledged as one of the longest running firms of its kind in an industry known for being fickle.
According to Director Mike Hollow, this longevity can be put down to its use of quality materials and consistent reliability. The company makes window frames to order in its 8,000sq ft Maghull factory. Over the years it has enlarged its staffing levels from two to an almost 40 strong labour force. It services mostly domestic customers and, surprisingly, doesn't have a market with the large builders of housing estates, as these - reveals Mike Hollow - are usually pre-formatted windows. "All our products are made to last" he added tellingly.
The firm has a regular sales team of four and its historical positioning as a brand and industry leader - certainly locally - means that the state of the economy doesn't have that much impact. Based on the Section Lane Industrial Estate in Maghull, Mr Hollow says the firm is now increasingly tackling trade work and considering possible expansion, although this will be measured. He added "We could have been bigger by aggressive marketing but in fact we are happy this size. And in terms of turnover and clients quite a strong firm"
